Minor OT reopens in Koraput MCH

Jeypore: A day after Orissa POST reported that the minor operation theatre (OT) of Koraput Medical College and Hospital (MCH) had been closed, the district administration swung into action and reopened it.

After the intervention of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), the OT was once again opened for the public.  The MCH authorities had closed the operation theater a few days back over some reason.

According to sources, the OT was operational for a long time and accident victims from all various regions including Koraput, Sunabeda, Semiliguda and Damanjodi were provided treatment. It was considered the immediate trauma care of the hospital.

However, due to alleged shifting of staffs from Koraput Medical College and Hospital to Jeypore District headquarters hospital that led to the closure of the OT. Locals said due to closure of the facility, patients were forced to depend on private clinics where the treatment is expensive.

After the report by Orissa POST, Koraput CDMO LM Rath and MCH officials, considering the situation, decided to reopen the operation theater by cancelling transfer order of the some medical staff and accommodating them in the facility.

Beside, the CDMO urged the Medical College and Hospital authorities to appoint their own staff immediately instead of using the DHH staff for healthcare in both Jeypore and Koraput.

Sources, said as 25 medical staff were shifted from Koraput MCH to Jeypore District Headquarter Hospital on the State Government order.
