Bant: Some miscreants set a cattle-laden pickup van on fire after they were denied extortion money at Kashipur near Bant in Bhadrak district Wednesday night.
However, eight cows have been rescued.
According to reports, some unidentified youths were collecting money from the vehicles passing through the area. After stopping the van, they demanded money from the driver.
When the driver said he had no money, the miscreants thrashed him and the helper of the van before setting the vehicle on fire.
On being informed, Bant police reached the spot and rescued the cattle.
