Missing for 18 days, trader’s body found in Bolangir jungle

Bolangir: The body of a trader of Hatisara village under Deogaon police limits in this district who had been missing for 18 days was found in a jungle Monday.

The deceased trader was identified as Gajanan Meher, who was a jeweller.

According to a source, Meher had gone out of his house November 5, informing his mother that he was going to Patnagarh. It was when he did not return home for long a time, his family members started searching for him but in vain.

The next morning, Meher’s family lodged a missing report with the police. Again, Meher’s elder brother lodged a report with the police accusing Sira Rana of Sarasbahal village of kidnapping his brother.

While the police had all along been beating about the bush, Meher’s body was spotted in the Mudaghat-Chipakani jungle.

Some locals first spotted the body. On getting information about the body, police reached the spot and recovered it for post mortem.

A detailed investigation is underway.
