Mission Shakti gets Rs 200-crore boost

Bhubaneswar: The state government has sanctioned Rs 200 crore to meet the expenses incurred on holding meetings of the Mission Shakti Federations and travel allowance for the executive members.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this while launching a slew of programmes under Mission Shakti here Wednesday.

Stating Mission Shakti Ghar is being constructed in all gram panchayats (GPs) and wards, Patnaik said that Mission Shakti Bhawans will also be constructed in all blocks and districts.

A sum of Rs 1 crore will be provided to each district for construction such infrastructure at district level, he said. He also announced allowance for the community support staff at GP level to buy uniforms.

He hoped that these will further strengthen the Mission Shakti movement at the grassroots level. The Mission Shakti programme started 20 years back has now become a huge movement of 70 lakh women, said the CM.

Patnaik said that now 21 departments are providing work to women SHGs.
