Sajnagad: Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak Tuesday morning performed a different role by taking part in a cleanliness drive at Panchalingeswar shrine here.
He was seen sweeping the shrine premises Tuesday.
On the occasion of the second Monday of holy Shravan month, hundreds of Bol Bom devotees thronged the shrine to offer holy water to Lord Shiva.
Piles of water pouches, use and throw plastic glasses, paper pieces etc dotted the area Tuesday morning.
Leading from the front, Nayak launched a cleanliness drive at the shrine from 8 am. BJD block president Gangadhar Mishra, local sarpanch Usharani Roul, naib sarpanch Nityanand Rout, advocate Amarendra Pattnayak and others joined the drive.
The drive was held for the sake of devotees’ safety and to get the premises cleaned.
