MLA lends hand to locals to repair road

Malkangiri:  At a time when the grievances of common people are often not addressed by their representatives and administrators, Chitrakonda MLA Dambaru Sisa has set an example by joining hands with the locals in repairing of a road which was damaged due to flood like situation in the district.

According to sources, a portion of the Khabaraput-Majhiguda road in Chitrakonda was washed away after incessant rainfall in the region. The collapse had hit the vehicular communication to Amakunda Shiva shrine while people of three neighbouring villages were cut off from the mainland.

After getting information, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator reached the spot to take stock of the flood situation. He immediately called the villagers and his supporters who together got into the repair work.

The legislator led from the front and worked along with the locals to repair the road without waiting for any aid from the administration. The young tribal MLA was seen carrying stones and digging earth with the locals. His act has been appreciated by one and all in the region.

While the opposition members called it a publicity stunt, the MLA was undeterred and continued with the repair work.

The prevailing torrential rain has marooned many parts of the tribal-dominated district while many bridges and roads have been collapsed. Even as the rainfall has decreased and water level is receding, locals feared the situation would worse as the IMD sounded thunderstorm and lightning alert again.
