MLA Pravat Biswal hospitalised

Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal, who was arrested by the CBI in a chit fund scam, has been admitted to Capital Hospital Friday night after being referred to there by jail doctors. Capital Hospital director CR Das said the Cuttack-Choudwar legislator was admitted to the hospital due to several complaints. ‘‘We have carried out medical examinations. The reports are awaited.’’ Biswal, who was taken on remand by the CBI September 20, was produced before the special CBI court Friday, a day before his remand was to end. The court ordered a medical check up of the MLA after his lawyer informed the court that his client is ailing.
