Mohana: The Mohana Development Council has called for a bandh July 4 to protest against the district administration’s apathetic attitude towards various civic problems at this block in Gajapati district.
People from 39 panchayats and the bordering villages of Kandhamal and Rayagada depend on Mohana for their daily needs. Though hundreds of people depend Mohana for travelling, there is no proper bus station here. Besides there are no toilet facilities or a proper shelter, local people alleged.
The absence of bus stand creates traffic problem as well here. With the buses parked on roadside, there have been several cases of accidents recently.
Besides the street lights from Mohana College to market and bank have not been working.
“With the administration not listening to our legitimate demands, we have no other choice other than going ahead with a bandh,” a member of the council said.
When contacted, Block Development Officer Banshidhar Khosla said steps for Mohana’s development including the construction of a toilet would be taken up soon.
