Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Secretary Shalini Pandit directed officials of the State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) Friday to monitor services and facilities available to patients at the private hospitals empanelled under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). Altogether 765 super-speciality private hospitals have partnered with the government to deliver clinical services under BSKY, a scheme that aims to make healthcare accessible for all, said Pandit after a review Friday.
Looking into the progress made in extension of cashless treatment to people at private hospitals inside and outside the state, Pandit directed the nodal officers to scrutinize on a daily basis claims raised at these hospitals against the treatment provided for payment clearance within scheduled time. The review showed that 155 super speciality hospitals from 16 states—Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujurat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand—have partnered with the state for implementation of BSKY.
Similarly, 610 hospitals from different districts of the state have now been included in the scheme. Major empanelled hospitals in other states include the Christian Medical College, Vellore; Sri Shankara cancer foundation, Bangalore; Tata medical centre, Kolkata; Homi Bhaba (HB) cancer hospital, Vizag and Sangur; Bhubaneswar Borooah cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati; HB cancer hospital, Varanasi; Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya cancer centre, Varanasi; Advanced centre for treatment, research and education in cancer, Mumbai; and Tata Memorial, Mumbai. “At district level, 54 coordinators are visiting the empanelled hospitals regularly to keep watch over patient-centric services. At the hospital level, 773 Swasthya Mitras are engaged to provide necessary assistance to patients. Some 140 doctors are looking into treatment provided to patients on a daily basis and scrutinizing the claims raised by private hospitals,” informed a department official.
