Bhubaneswar: The south-west monsoon, which entered 15 districts of Odisha including five Sunday, is expected to cover the remaining districts in the next two days, the weather office here said.
As per an IMD release, the monsoon that entered most parts of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati and Rayagada districts Saturday, has caused rains in some parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Khurda and Puri districts Sunday morning. Considering the favourable conditions, it was expected to enter the remaining districts in the next 36 hours.
Meanwhile, a low pressured formed over the north-east Bay of Bengal Saturday and it was expected to intensify into a deep depression. Under its influence, there would be widespread rain in most parts of the state.
While heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Balangir and Nuapada districts, rain and thundershowers would be experienced at some places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts, the release said. eom
Fishermen were advised against venturing into the waters as the sea condition would be rough due to the strong and gusty surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph, the Met report said.
