Bhubaneswar, May 8: Flyeasy airline, promoted by Bangalore-based ABC Aviation and Training Pvt Ltd, has submitted its schedule to Airports Authority of India (AAI) to launch Bhubaneswar-Bangalore scheduled flights from June-end.
The airline, after obtaining a no-objection certificate from the ministry of civil aviation, has sought space from AAI to set up its ticketing office at the T1 domestic terminal of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).
According to its schedule, the first Bangalore-bound flight from BPIA would take off at 9.10 am and reach Bangalore at 11.05 am while the second flight would take off at 9.10 pm from BPIA and reach Bangalore airport at 11.05 pm.
A letter submitted by Flyeasy to AAI stated that the airline has got the approval of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India (BCAS).
Flyeasy executives have said the airline is not going to be a budget carrier, implying that the tickets would not be cheaply priced.
The airline has an Embraer-190 aircraft that can seat 110 passengers (including crew).
Flyeasy’s Akshay Gowarikar could not be reached for his
comments.
BPIA director Sharad Kumar said the Bangalore-based airline is likely to become operational by June for which requisite permissions have been granted to it to commence operations.
“For a long time, passengers have been demanding a direct Bangalore-bound flight from Bhubaneswar which would now become possible in a few weeks’ time,” he said.
IndiGo is operating a Bhubaneswar-Bangalore flight from BPIA which takes off at 2.55 pm and reaches Bangalore airport at 4.45 pm.
Another low-cost airline GoAir has been planning to launch Bhubaneswar-Bangalore flights for the past six months but is yet to come up with a concrete proposal.
