Bhubaneswar, March 15: Concerned over poor allocation of funds, the standing committee on industries recommended the state government to make budget provision of an additional Rs 132 crore for several projects and programmes under the industries department.
The committee has asked to make these budgetary provisions in the supplementary budget of the 2015-16 fiscal.
The state government had made a budget provision of Rs 5.33.crore against the requirement of Rs 15.31 crore towards the subsidy in shape of financial assistance against VAT reimbursement in large-sector industries. Later, an amount of Rs 10 crore was made in the supplementary stage in the 2014-15 fiscal. However, the standing committee headed by legislator Nrusingha Charan Sahu which submitted its report to the Assembly recently has asked the government to make a provision of an additional Rs 50 crore in the next supplementary stage.
The committee has recommended an increase of funds for the aluminium park at Angul. “For promotion of aluminium base ancillary and downstream industries, an aluminium park is under implementation at Angul through a joint venture by Idco and Nalco. Rs 50 lakh was provided in the budget estimate during 2014-15 and a token provision was made in this budget,” said the report. “
`50crore will be provided in the supplementary stage of 2015-16 for this project,” the report added.
The report also recommended a budgetary provision of Rs 5 crore in the next supplementary stage for the promotion of new industrial parks/estates at industrial hubs in the state such as Kalinganagar, Barbil, Jharsuguda, Choudwar, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, and Bargarh.
Likewise, the committee has also recommended for an additional funding of Rs 5 crore in order to make the Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Orissa Ltd (Ipicol) more effective for speedy implementation of industrial projects.
For implementation of a food park at Deras, it has recommended an additional budget of `10 crore and has also recommended an additional `2 crore for the making of 10 documentary films towards promotion of culture and heritage during 2015-16.
