Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: Mother’s Public School (MPS) and SAI International School emerged champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories of the Inter-School Sahodaya Basketball Championships which concluded here Saturday.
In the boys’ category, MPS beat DAV Chandrasekharpur 65-35 in a lop-sided final to clinch the title. The DAV side failed to put up a good show against their much taller opponents and trailed from the start. There was nothing much they could do against their much superior opponents.
In the girls’ segment, SAI edged past DAV Chandrasekharpur 39-31 in a nail-biting final to take top honours. The eves fought it out bitterly with the lead changing hands frequently in the first half.
Anurag Panda of MPS and Sandhya Hansda of SAI were adjudged the best players of the tournament.
Team selection
Orissa Kho-Kho Association will select both the state boys’ and the girls’ teams at the MS Academy, Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district for the National Senior Kho-Kho Championships, November 15.
