Cuttack, Feb 19: Only on Wednesday evening, coach Pravin Amre had stated that the Mumbai team, in spite of not having big names should not be underestimated. His wards proved his words true Thursday by putting Delhi on the mat on the penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy tie at the DRIEMS Ground in Tangi.
Chasing a victory target of 441, Delhi were 110 for four still needing another 341 runs to win the game. With skipper Gautam Gambhir (34) and Unmukt Chand (31) failing after getting starts, Delhi are virtually out of the game. Pacers Shardul Thakur (2/43) and Wilkin Mota (2/39) once more troubled the Delhi batters with their speed and nip off the wicket. Rajat Bhatia (25 batting) and Mannan Sharma (14 batting) were at the crease at stumps.
Earlier the Mumbai tail added some useful runs to take the team’s score to 450. Harmeet Singh (30) and Thakur (20) added valuable runs to the side’s kitty. Left-arm spinner Mannan Sharma (4/92) bowled well for Delhi.
