Musician plays mouth organ through the nose

BHUBANESWAR: An Odia artiste Prutiviraj Majumdar has mastered the inexplicable art of playing a mouth organ through his nose.

Multitalented artiste Majumdar can play a number of musical instruments like Hawaii, Guitar, Spanish Guitar, Banjo, Keyboard and Tabla among others.

Born in 1953 to parents Amulaya Majumdar and Bela Rani Majumdar at Sambalpur Gol Bazar, Prutiviraj was always a child prodigy. He used to make guitars and tablas which were sold like hotcakes to enthusiastic buyers.

Right from his childhood, his sense of music was incredible. He claims to be a born musician who has never received any formal training. His nephew and music director Abhijit Majumdar vouched for the info.

He opened an orchestra troupe named ‘Ever Green’ in 1969 where Jitendra Haripal, the fabled singer of ‘Rangabati’ and Prafulla Mitra were members. His troupe was stuff of legends in western Odisha at the time.
