Niali: Unknown creature killing sheep in the villages here continues with three more of the herbivore falling prey to the predator late Wednesday.
The predator had killed three sheep belonging to Parikhita Das of Gaya Sahi here late Wednesday.
“It was late in the night when I rushed into the cattle shed after hearing the cows’ mooing. Suddenly, some four-odd creatures resembling dogs rushed out of the shed. Later, I spotted three of the sheep lying lifeless,” Das claimed.
After being informed, veterinarians rushed to the village and recovered the carcasses before conducting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, some sheep owners of the village attributed the series of animal deaths to the callousness of the forest officials.
“Despite tall claims, the forest officials have failed to ascertain the species of the killer creature. If this continues, we fear, no single sheep would survive in the block,” they said.
