Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: The state government has proposed to set up two new engineering colleges at Nabarangpur and Jagatsinghpur in the current academic year.
The technical support group (TSG) on the state higher education plan 2014-15 (technical education) has recommended the state government to set up the two institutions in the state under the Central Rashtriya Ucchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme. The technical panel also recommended a grant of `26 crore for this purpose in the current financial year, sources said.
However, activities for establishment of the new colleges will take around six months, the employment, technical education and training (ETET) department said.
The ETET department also urged the higher education department to approach RUSA to provide financial assistance of `10 crore to VSSUT, Burla under ‘Infrastructure Grant to Universities’ scheme.
