Nalco CMD TK Chand lauds CAs

Bhubaneswar: India is all set to emerge as the third largest economy of the world with a quantum jump in its GDP by 2030 and the role of the chartered accountants in this context will be crucial, said Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD of National Aluminium Company (NALCO), a Navaratna company of Government of India.

Chand said this while attending a national-level conference of chartered accounts (CAs) held in the city Friday.

Addressing at the programme organised by Professional Development Committee, ICAI, he said, “CAs are the architects of country’s financial system.” He also informed that India is fast emerging as the youngest nation in the world with more than 65 per cent of its population in the working group.

“As a responsible industry, NALCO has taken measures to set up an Aluminium Park at Angul. It will work on cashless model, in which NALCO will provide raw material and purchase finished products from the MSMEs making them viable in the long term,” he said.

Earlier, the conference was inaugurated by Governor Ganeshi Lal. In his address, Lal hailed the contribution of the CAs in country’s economic growth. He encouraged the professional body to work diligently towards the development of India by ensuring a strong financial system.

The two-day-long conference was attended by more than 1,100 CAs from across the country. A large number of professionals of national and international repute are scheduled to deliver lectures at the event in seven different technical sessions on various topics.
