BHUBANESWAR: The second day of the 38th Foundation Day celebrations of Nalco was held amid gaiety at Bhubaneswar Friday. Nalco presented several awards to individuals and organisations for their achievements in different fields on the occasion. Music exponent Padmashree Prafulla Kar received a lifetime achievement award and Padmavibhusan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia was honoured for his contributions to music. Nalco Kalidas awards were presented to Professor Atul Kumar Nanda and Professor Sukanta Kumar Senapati for their contributions to Sanskrit literature this year. Nirod Kumar Dehury, Sonali Mohapatra, Manisha Manaswini and Sugyani Mahapatra received Nalco Kharavela Awards for their achievements and contributions
to Odissi dance. The awardees were given Rs 25,000 and a memento. The Nalco Literary Award for 2018 was handed over to Dasarathi Das and Shantanu Kumar Acharya. The award carries a prize of Rs one lakh and a memento. NALCO awarded ‘Gul Gul- Kun Mun’ awards to 10 schools of Angul, Damanjodi and Vizag region as part of the company’s endeavor to encourage the Swachh Bharat drive in schools.
