Nandankanan leopard found dead

Bhubaneswar: A male leopard of Nandankanan zoo was found?dead inside the isolation ward of the zoo this morning.
Zoo Deputy Director Jayant Das said the eight-year-old leopard fell sick Sunday and was brought to the isolation ward for intensive treatment.
The zoo doctors noticed swelling of belly and a fall in the body temperature of the leopard. The animal was under treatment and the zoo doctors tried to bring the body temperature of the animal to normal. But it was found dead by the zoo keepers at around 5 am Monday.
The zoo Deputy Director said that the exact cause of the death can be ascertained after post-mortem by experts from the College of Veterinary Science.
The leopard, which was brought from Junagarh in Gujarat three years back, has no off-springs. The Nandankanan Zoo has now three male and four female leopards in the enclosure.
