Close shave for 10 as train hits mixture machine

Balasore: Nearly nine to ten labourers had a narrow escape Wednesday morning when the train hit a cement mixture machine just out the Balasore railway station.

According to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), South Eastern Railway,  Sanjay Ghosh, a major accident was averted when Train No. 12842 Coromandel Express was on its way to Howrah from Chennai when the incident occurred.

He said the incident occurred at Tamulia village near the Balasore railway station when labourers working on the tracks were trying to cross the cement mixer machine when suddenly the train which was at a high speed hit it. However, the labourers rescued themselves from moving away from the tracks.

After the incident, the labourers fled the spot leaving the machine on the tracks.

Ghosh said the driver of the locomotive stopped and checked and the train was delayed for about 15 minutes. Later, the train left for its destination.
