National-level philatelic seminar held at Capital

BHUBANESWAR: A national-level philatelic Seminar was held at the Office of Chief Postmaster General of Odisha Circle here recently.

The seminar was organised by Odisha Postal Circle. Santosh Kumar Kamila, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar inaugurated the seminar in the presence of Jaleswar Kanhar, Postmaster General, Berhampur Region, Berhampur.

Sahadev Sahu, D.N. Padhi, former IAS officers, Amit Banarjee, Vice Chancellor, Sikshya O Anusandhan University, Damayanti Pattie, President and Rajesh Kumar Bagri, Secretary General, Philately Congress of India. Besides, many eminent philatelists of international repute attended the seminar as guest participants.

Eminent philatelists from all over the country and state participated in the seminar. They expressed their views for improvement of philately.  The quarterly magazine issued by PCI Signet was released in the seminar. It was unanimously decided that more philatelic clubs need to be established in schools and colleges to promote philately among the younger generation.

Rajesh Kumar Bagri, Anil Dhir, Pragyan Jain, Ajit Dash, Madhukar Deogawonka and Markand Dave presented various topics related to philately like “Thematic Presentation”, “Last Post”, “Traditional Philately”, “Forensic Philately”, “Postal History” and “Dasish Settlement in India” respectively.

All the participants discussed promotional aspects of philately in Odisha. The members of Philatelic Congress of India, Eastern India Philatelic Association, Odisha Philatelic Association and other such organisations of the state extended their help for promotion of philately in the state. P.N. Pattanaik, Asst. Director, Philately, Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar extended the vote of thanks to all participants for attending the seminar.
