Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday expressed deep shock and distress over the unfortunate death of minister Naba Kishore Das.

In a statement, Patnaik said that he was shocked and distressed over the very unfortunate demise of the minister.

The doctors made every possible effort to save his life. But unfortunately, he could not recover, said the Chief Minister.

“Das was an asset for both the government and the party. He had successfully carried many initiatives in the health department for the benefit of the people,” Naveen added.

As a leader, he was instrumental in strengthening Biju Janata Dal, the Patnaik stated while adding that Das was a grassroots person and was loved and respected by all, cutting across parties and sections of people. His death is a great loss to the state of Odisha, Naveen said in the statement.

The Chief Minister prayed for peace and tranquillity of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved family members.
