Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Thursday said that the NDA government was investing `2,86,836 crore in the state.
Interacting with editors and senior journalists here, Pradhan presented detailed figures of investment made during the UPA government and the NDA government led by Prime Minister Modi in Odisha.
Giving a breakup of investment in the state, the Union minister said `1,34,780 crore would be invested in the petroleum sector alone followed by `40,103 crore for development of national highways (NHs) in the state and `20,213 crore in Railways.
He said while there would be an investment of `34,541 crore by Nalco, the NTPC would be investing `23,897 crore and SAIL `20,213 crore.
Pradhan said these investments would boost the economy of Odisha in the next 25 years.
He said the coastal highway project will be taken up soon after the car festival in July and the Centre has proposed an outer ring road of 250 km covering seven districts in the state with an investment of `2,500 crore.
This apart, there would be a loop line of nearly 120 km from Jankia to Kapilas Road which would act as a bypass of NH 5 for which survey has been completed.
Odisha, the Union Minister said, would receive a revenue of nearly `71,783 crore from the e-auction of 13 coal blocks and five iron ore and other mines following the amendment in the MMDR Act.
In tax devolution, the state, he said, had received `1,96,632 crore form the 14th Finance Commission against the `82,185 crore from the 13th Finance Commission during UPA government.
During the last four years of the Modi government, 5,499 km of NH was taken up as against 1,358 km constructed from 2004 to 2014 by the UPA government, he said.
Similarly, under PMGSY the Centre had released `8015.11 crore during the last four years for laying 18,203 km of road against the `11,200 crore sanctioned by UPA from 2004 to 2014 for laying 26,713 km road, he added.
Pradhan said under the PM Urja Ganga in Odisha 769-km gas pipeline will be laid covering 13 districts with an investment of `3,851 crore. As per PMAY the Centre, he said, had released `6,285 crore during the last four years for constructing 8,92,177 houses in the state.
He claimed that 14,222 houses have been electrified and 40 lakh houses covered under the PM Saubhagya Yojana. A textile park costing `1,200 crore would be set up at Bhadrak and a Plastic Park would come up at Paradip with an investment of `106 crore, he added.
Pradhan said the Centre has an ambitious plan for the development of Paradip Port which will soon also become a container port.
The `7,000-crore coal-based fertilizer plant will be set up at Talcher and the foundation stone of the project could be laid at any time by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
