Basudevpur: The local administration has gone into an overdrive for tackling Fani in coastal pockets under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak Thursday with an NDRF team having already taken position.
People living in coastal areas were panicked, expecting possibility of gale and heavy rains while a team of NDRF has reached here in the evening.
The NDRF team made people aware about precautionary measures during Fani at Padhuan, Mohanpur, Jagannathour, Kumarpur, Nuagan and other villages.
The 25-member team conducted awareness drive in 15 panchayats and two wards under the municipality.
The administration has meanwhile initiated efforts to bring people to 38 cyclone shelters.
Heavy rains have started while the sea has remained choppy.
The administration has issued an order to keep the school open for accommodation of people.
“All efforts are being made to deal with the ensuing disaster with deployment of officials,” said BDO Prakash Roul.
