Jharsuguda: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour cousin in Sagarpali village here.
Even though the incident occurred a few days back the girl told her mother about the attack only Sunday, who then lodged a complaint with the police Monday.
Police registered a case and detained the accused and interrogation is on. The accused has been identified as Bedavyas Khanda.
According to the complainant, the accused visited the minor girl’s house while she was alone and forced himself upon her. He then threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone.
After remaining silent for a few days, the minor informed her mother who admitted her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH). The survivor’s mother has accused Khanda’s family of threatening them to withdraw the case.
“We have detained the accused and will take action after investigation,” the Rengali IIC said.
