Puri, Oct 8: The state government will soon constitute a trust to manage the affairs of Netaji Museum, built at the an cestral house of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Gopal Ballav Road here.
This was revealed at a review meeting, chaired by collector Aravind Agarwal. “The state government will create a corpus fund for the maintenance of the museum. Besides, there are proposals for the formation of a governing and an executive body for the museum. The culture minister is supposed to be the chairman of the governing body while district collector will head the executive body,” district culture officer Nalinikant Sahu said.
District administration sources said the state chapter of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), a non-government organisation, has completed the museum construction with an outlay of `3.96crore from the culture department. “INTACH authorities have expressed their willingness to hand over the museum to the culture department. We have directed the civic body to renovate a road near the museum. The culture department is mulling to open the museum to public in November first week,” Agarwal said.
According to sources, the culture department and the district administration are yet to take a decision on the recruitment of employees for the museum and the amount of fee to be collected from the visitors.
