Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena Friday inaugurated a cancer care unit at the Capital hospital here.
Inaugurating the centre, Jena said a comprehensive cancer care programme is being implemented in the state since 2016. Under this programme free consultancy, chemo therapy and post treatment care is being given free of cost in Capital hospital, Rourkela government hospital and in all district headquarters hospitals, he said.
He said as many as 11,330 cancer patients have visited the OPD in district headquarter hospitals since the launching of this programme, and free chemo therapy was given 10,285 times.
Jena also inaugurated a new operation theatre at the Eye department of the Capital hospital.
