Newborn girl rescued from bush

Balipada: Residents of Tikarpada village under Sadar police limits of Kukudakhandi block in Ganjam district rescued a newborn girl from a bush near the village Monday.

Luckily, no animals had attacked the newborn and she survived the chilling rain before being rescued.

Some locals heard the baby cry when they were passing by the bush to their place of work. When they watched closely, they were astonished to find the baby wrapped in a cloth and rescued her. With the help of the local ASHA worker, the baby was first admitted to Balipada primary health centre (CHC).

Later, she was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Locals demanded stringent action against those found guilty in this connection.

On being informed about the incident, Sadar IIC Siba Shankar Mahapatra and BDO Sambhunath Nandi reached the hospital and enquired about the health of the baby. As the health of the baby improved, shewas handed over to local Childline officials.
