Newborn quadruplets die in Baripada hospital

Baripada: The pre-mature quadruplets undergoing treatment at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital (PRMMCH) in Baripada since they were born Tuesday died Wednesday night.

Jhunu Rani Dhal (20), wife of Uttam Dhal and a native from Shingada village under Shulipada block in Mayurbhanj district, had delivered three girls and a boy at the hospital at around 1.18 pm Tuesday.

The delivery was normal and the four babies weighed around 680 gm, 580 gm, 730 gm and 900 gm respectively.

Unfortunately, the deliveries were pre-mature since she was at the end of just her seventh month of pregnancy. The babies were kept at the Sick Newborn Care Unit, reports said.

Though the health condition of the premature babies was initially stable, it gradually deteriorated and they died one after another.
