Nine critical in road mishaps

Angul/Boudh: At least nine persons were critically injured in two separate road mishaps in Angul and Boudh districts in the state, Sunday.

In the first incident, three members of a family were critically injured after the two-wheeler they were riding was hit by a car near Jimiripal petrol pump in Pallahara in Angul district.

They were immediately rescued and rushed to Angul district headquarters hospital.

In another incident, as many as six persons sustained critical injuries after they were hit by a speeding truck near Jamamunda Chhak under Manmunda police limits in Boudh today.

Reportedly, all the injured persons have been admitted to the nearby hospital.

According to sources, the driver of the speeding truck lost control over the wheels and hit two motorcycles. The truck, after hitting the motorcyclists, overturned on the road.

Irate over the incident, the locals have staged a protest and the police have reached the scene to pacify the mob.
