Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: Nishant Biswal entered the final of the State Snooker Championship after beating Subrat Das in the nail-biting second semifinal at the Vintage Club here Monday. Nishant will meet Ashutosh Padhy in the final Tuesday.
In the exciting game, Nishant scraped past Subrat Das 5-4 (57-35, 61-43, 27-63, 8-72, 79-71, 21-71, 55-13, 21-38, 56-21).
Poor batting
Despite a fighting half century from Rajkishan Patel(78, 109b, 10×4, 1×6), Orissa were bundled out for 237 in their first innings, having a deficit of 30 runs on the third day of their Cooch Behar Trophy match against Tripura at the BOSE Ground, Cuttack here Monday.
Resuming from their overnight score of 151/6, Orissa batters continued to disappoint. Rajkishen played a resolute innings, but could not get support from the other end.
In reply, Tripura faced a batting collapse in their second essay and were reduced to 150 for the loss of six wickets with Dipayan Debabarma (62, 137b, 9×4, 1×6) emerging as the highest scorer.
Sunrise, SAI-STC win
Sunrise Club and SAI-STC registered easy victories in their respective matches of the FAO First Division Super league at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Monday.
In the first match, Sun Rise Club thrashed Sports Hostel 6-0 with Stanley scoring a hat-trick and Soo Sai Raj nailing a brace. In the other match, SAI-STC triumphed over Radha Gobinda Club 3-1 with Raja, Rajesh Nayak and Saswat Swain founding the back of the net once each. Mukesh Bhoi got one back for Radha Gobinda.
Tuesday’s matches: Chand Club vs Jay Durga Club; Rising Star Club vs Orissa Police.
