No flight services at Jharsuguda airport; Air Odisha plays hide and seek

Jharsuguda: Air Odisha, which was scheduled to resume its services to Jharsuguda Airport November 3, has rescheduled it to November 5.

The airline has announced several dates to resume its services to the airport, but has changed its plans at the last moment.

Earlier, Air Odisha, which said it would restart operations October 29, changed the date to November 4. But no planes landed at Jharsuguda Aiport on both days.

Resentment prevailed among passengers over the delay in flight operations from the newly-commissioned airport.

The local residents have threatened to launch a massive protest if the flight services at the airstrip didn’t resume soon.

Some locals alleged that Air Odisha has not even apprised the airport authorities about the halting of its flight services.

Some residents said instead of being an airport, it has turned into a selfie zone.

Everyday hundreds of youngsters come here to click selfies, they said.

Sudip Chauhan, Director of Vira Surendra Sai Airport, said Air Odisha has given no written information regarding the resumption of flight services.

They are only passing verbal information which is also changing at the later stage, he added.
