Rourkela: A day after the bloodstained body of a 29-year-old man was recovered from a cashew orchard under Dharuadihi police station limits here, the police were still to make any headway in the case Monday.
On Sunday, the body of Bhimsen Kamar was found with his throat slit by some sharp weapons. The assailants had left him to bleed to death, it is suspected. Bhimsen was the third son of Krushnachandra Kamar of Ledhimanga Babupada village. On Saturday night, Bhimsen, a daily wager, went to see an orchestra which was organised in neighbouring Amasanga village on the occasion of Ganesh Puja. Before leaving home, he had brought all the required articles for Nuakhai celebrations the next day. However, when he did not return home till midday Sunday, his family started searching for him. While the search was on, they heard the news of a wounded body lying in the cashew orchard between Babupada and Sunamunda villages.
The worried family members and the deceased’s friends rushed to the spot and identified the body as that of Bhimsen. On being informed, a police team, led by SDPO Sundargarh Himanshu Behera reached the spot along with a scientific team from Jharsuguda. The police sent the body for post-mortem, registered a case under Section 103 (1) of BNS, and launched an investigation. The deceased’s elder brother Bhisma alleged that Friday night some unidentified youths had barged into their house and threatened his mother Hemabati with dire consequences. He said the same miscreants could have killed his brother. However, Bhisma didn’t say why the miscreants threatened his mother. Meanwhile, police suspect that some past enmity could have led to the killing. A police source claimed that the assailants, who have been identified, would be arrested soon.
