Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Sunday launched the second edition of the ‘Jibana Jindabad’ awareness campaign in Bhubaneswar, calling for a stronger collective fight against substance abuse and urging young people to stay away from addiction.
Addressing the ‘Jibana Jindabad 2.0’ programme organised by the Commissionerate Police at the Railway Auditorium, Majhi said the state government would continue its “zero-tolerance” policy against drugs and other forms of substance abuse.
Highlighting measures taken by the state government, Majhi said no new liquor shops would be opened in Odisha for the next three years under the new excise policy that came into effect from April 1.
The Chief Minister also launched a dedicated website of the Commissionerate Police linked to the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign.
“Say no to addiction and yes to life,” Majhi said, stressing that human life is a precious gift and that facing challenges and failures instead of resorting to substance abuse is the essence of life.
He said while the first edition of ‘Jibana Jindabad’, launched last year, focused on preventing suicidal tendencies, the second edition would focus on keeping young people away from addiction and encouraging them towards education, sports and creativity.
