Cuttack: The Odisha High Court has recently issued a directive, restricting opera parties from performing beyond 10 pm.
If any opera party is found violating the order, criminal cases will be registered against the party as well as the local administration.
The division bench of Chief Justice K S Jhaveri and justice K R Mohapatra has issued the order, hearing a petition filed by Kuleila villagers of Athgarh town in Cuttcak district.
In their petition, they said that there is an ayurvedic centre in Kulailo village. It is best known for bone fracture treatment. The centre attracts a good number of patients throughout the year.
There is a field near the centre where pandals are put up around the year to host opera shows. The pettion pointed out that the patients are experience difficulties due to the opera shows in the night.
Their petition also mentions that the organisers always ignore the direction of the local administration.
