No toll at Pipili for Rath Yatra devotees

Bhubaneswar: A review meeting chaired by the Transport Commissioner was held Wednesday, during which several key decisions were taken to facilitate the movement of devotees.

For the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri, toll fees will not be collected at the Pipili toll gate, providing easier access for lakhs of devotees expected to attend the grand festival.

To ensure smooth transportation, 400 electric vehicles will operate between designated parking areas and key locations in Puri.

Passenger assistance facilities, including ORS, medicines and drinking water, will be available at Baramunda Bus Stand in Bhubaneswar, Netaji Bus Stand in Cuttack and Talabania Bus Stand in Puri. Around 30 recovery vans have also been deployed to quickly clear stranded vehicles.

Additional buses equipped with emergency supplies will remain on standby, while a 24×7 control room and special enforcement squads will monitor vehicle fitness, permits, overloading and speed violations on NH-16 and NH-30.

Officials said coordinated efforts involving the Police, Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are aimed at ensuring a safe, seamless and hassle-free Rath Yatra experience for devotees.
