Nod to 12,290 houses for Odisha’s urban poor

New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved construction of 12,290 affordable houses in Odisha for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

According to the ministry, as many as 4,78,670 houses have been approved for construction in the country. The nod to the housing projects was given at the 42nd meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held here recently. The cumulative number of houses sanctioned under PMAY (U) now stands at 72,65,763.

The ministry further revealed that Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned 1,05,956 houses, West Bengal is 1,02,895, Uttar Pradesh 91,689, Tamil Nadu 68,110, Madhya Pradesh 35,377, Kerala 25,059, Maharashtra 17,817, Bihar 10,269 and Uttarakhand 9,208.

“A total of 940 projects with a project cost of Rs 22,492 crore and central assistance of Rs 7,180 crore have been approved in the meeting held under the chairmanship of MoHUA secretary Durga Shankar Mishra,” said the ministry.
