Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar has shown signs of steady recovery and has been shifted out of the intensive care unit (ICU) at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, a source said Thursday.
Majumdar, who was admitted in a comatose state September 3 with multiple comorbidities, had been on ventilator support in the ICU since September 4. The source informed that his pneumonia is improving, and he is now on oxygen support. His renal and liver functions are normal and his vital signs are stable.
He was initially admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack after falling ill during Ganesh Puja celebrations August 27. He was later transferred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar following complications related to hypertension, hypothyroidism, chronic liver disease and severe lung infections.
Over his career, Majumdar has composed music for more than 700 Odia films and albums. His popular works include scores for ‘Love Story’, ‘Sister Sridevi’, ‘Golmaal Love’, ‘Sundargarh Ra Salman Khan’ and ‘Sriman Surdas’.
