Bhubaneswar: With a view to build pressures on state governments like West Bengal and Odisha for proper implementation of the PM-Kisan scheme, the Centre has now allowed framers to directly enrol themselves on the scheme’s portal http://www.pmkisan.gov.in
While the West Bengal government has decided not to implement the PM-Kisan scheme, some others states like Odisha are reluctant to submit details of the beneficiaries to the Centre. As a result, framers are being deprived of the financial benefits for them under the scheme.
To overcome the situation, the Centre has now opened online self-registration for farmers through the scheme’s portal. Any farmer eligible for the benefits under the scheme can now apply by logging onto the link http://www.pmkisan.gov.in/RegistrationForm.aspx, official sources said here Friday.
The farmers have to fill up details regarding their Aadhaar, bank account and land documents for verification without waiting for any state agency or official to formally approach them.
Once the registration is completed, the documents will be scrutinised at the Central level and forwarded to the state departments for final approval. After this, funds, including arrears, will be immediately transferred to the beneficiaries’ account, the source said.
“The Centre has opened a link in its portal for online registration of farmers for the PM-Kisan scheme. After farmers register themselves, state government has to verify the details submitted and then the Centre would release the assistance,” Agriculture secretary Saurabh Garg told Orissa POST.
Besides, the enrolled farmers can access the portal to check the disbursements made to their accounts, while others whose names were registered, but haven’t started receiving the installments can undertake minor corrections that may be holding back the disbursements.
Data shows that 30,91,783 farmers are registered under the scheme in Odisha. Among them, 30,26,024 beneficiaries have received the first installment of `2,000 has so far, while only 9,34,797 beneficiaries have received the second installment. No farmer in Odisha has received the third installment.
