Nurses complain of sexual harassment by manager and pharmacist at Balasore COVID-19 hospital

Balasore: A manager and a pharmacist of a dedicated COVID-19 hospital under Remuna Tehsil in Balasore district were detained by Sadar police Sunday for allegedly misbehaving and harassing a staff nurse working at the same hospital.

The incident came to light after the nurse lodged an FIR at the police station complaining that the accused duo sent her objectionable videos.

The accused duo has been identified as Sachidananda Padhi (manager) and Biplab Padhi (pharmacist).

“I was sexually harassed. The duo sent me objectionable videos at night. They also threatened to dismiss me from the job if I don’t agree to their proposals,” the victim alleged.

In the FIR the nurse also mentioned that the duo also harassed many other girls by sending them objectionable videos and messages.

“Due to the fear of losing their jobs, no one is complaining in this regard,” added the nurse.

When asked, Remuna Tehsildar Charles Nayak said that a probe against the duo is underway.

“After investigation we will take appropriate action on the accused duo in accordance with the law,” added Nayak.
