Odia cuisine for tourists as ‘Raja’ Gift at Bbsr airport

Bhubaneswar: For the air travellers, Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here has got a special treat this Raja. The Airport authorities are coming up with a range of authentic traditional Odia food at the terminal.

Named as ‘Zambar- flavours of the South’, it will serve only vegetarian food, the BPIA Director informed adding that the construction work is being carried out by Lite Bite Food Private Limited.

Starting from variety of Pithas (pancakes) to sweet dishes like Manda and Kakara an elaborate and delicious menu of typical Odia delicacies will be made available at the outlet.

The new food and beverage outlet at the Terminal-1 of the airport will serve a rich range of culinary heritage of Odisha. Director of BPIA, Suresh Chandra Hota informed that the construction work of the outlet is being expedited to get it ready before Raja so that people can savour authentic Odia food here.

He also said that it is more important that people who do not belong to Odisha should get to know the food habit and culture of the State.

The outlet also plans to serve foods and delicacies according to different occasions and festivals that are being celebrated in Odisha.

According to sources, the outlet will have a veg-plate for Rs 80 and a tea cup for Rs 5 in its menu which is a good news for travellers looking for affordable food options at the airport.
