Odia designer’s work sparkles in London

BHUBANESWAR: City-based designer Nikita Nayak showcased her brilliant collection at a fashion show India Fashion Week London at United Kingdom recently.

The show was organised by the Platinum Group. Her recent collection was inspired from playing cards and she used all shapes available in the game. It mostly included Indo-Western custom designs. She presented her designs themed on India’s diversified collections on the show. She chose to display her designs with patterns of Western culture using Indian fabrics.

The show was directed by Indian Fashion Show director Lokesh Sharma. Designer co-ordination and backstage was managed by Swagat Ranjan.

Interacting with Orissa Post, Nayak said, “It is an overwhelming experience for me. I am proud to present the artists, handlooms and paintings of Odisha on an international platform like India Fashion Week London.”

It really is a matter of pride for the whole state to be represented and acknowledged internationally through the designs of a young designer-cum-entrepreneur. With an experience of just two years in the fashion circuit, she has already participated in various remarkable shows such as Delhi Times Fashion Week and Bhubaneswar Style Week among others. Apart from that, she has also launched her international calendar shoot successfully.
