Jayapur: A teacher allegedly molested a Class IX girl student of the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) inside the school premises under this block in Koraput district, police said Saturday.
Police have launched an investigation after the victim, a Class IX girl, lodged a complaint at the Borigumma police station that a computer teacher misbehaved with her. According to the complaint, the incident took place on the school campus July 14.
The student also alleged that the same teacher’s conduct had led her to avoid attending school during Class VIII. Borigumma SDPO Satyabrata Lenka and IIC Ramananda Sahu visited the school and launched an investigation into the matter.
The complainant further alleges that the teacher issued threats, warning her that if she told anyone about his conduct, he would ensure she could not study at any school. Lenka said a case has been registered and authorities are treating the matter seriously.
Principal Rahitdash Sethy confirmed the student’s guardians came to the school after the incident and filed a complaint with police. He said police are investigating and that more details would emerge once the probe is completed.
