Odisha approves eleven industrial projects worth Rs 2,840.73 crore

Bhubaneswar: The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) of Odisha chaired by Chief Secretary PK Jena Monday approved eleven industrial projects worth Rs 2,840.73 crore.

An official source said that out of the eleven proposals, nine have been converted from the companies participating at Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 and showed investment intent in the state.

The projects approved in the meeting were spread across diverse sectors like aluminium and aluminium downstream, steel and steel downstream, chemicals and plastics, food processing and packaging, textiles and apparel, tourism and renewable energy.

These projects will be set up across various parts of the state including Bolangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurdha, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.

The SLSWCA approved the proposal of RCR Steel Works Private Limited, entailing an investment of Rs 896.98 crores to set up a steel plant in Jamda in Mayurbhanj district.

The committee also approved the expansion proposal of Utkal Alumina International Ltd at Rayagada district and Hindalco Industries Limited at Lapanga, Sambalpur, which promised cumulative investment of nearly Rs 1,000 crores.

The project proposal of Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd to set up a resort at Somolo Island, Chilika Lake in Ganjam district with an investment of Rs 228.45 crores was cleared at the meeting.

This project, official source claimed, will further strengthen Odisha’s position in the tourism map of the country.

In the chemicals sector, the committee gave a nod to a project by Ion Exchange (India) Ltd to set up a manufacturing unit of 25,000 MT Water Treatment Chemicals & 30,000 MT Monomer and Polymers in Paradeep at an investment of Rs 303 crores.

In the textiles and apparel sector, Indian Stitches Private Limited is setting up a fabric processing plant with an investment of Rs 100 crores while in the food processing sector, the Taj SATs Ltd would set up food processing and packaging units in Khordha at an investment of Rs 51 crores.
