Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling BJP Saturday lodged a police complaint against BJD MP Sulata Deo, accusing her of posting objectionable content on social media targeting party national president Nitin Nabin.
A BJP delegation led by party spokesperson Satarupa Mishra submitted a complaint at the Capital police station in Bhubaneswar, seeking action against Deo.
“We have lodged the complaint against Sulata Deo for allegedly violating the Indian National Flag Code. She also insulted our party’s national president Nitin Nabin on social media and crossed all limits through the misuse of AI. We demand strict action against her misconduct and inappropriate language,” Mishra said.
According to the BJP’s complaint, Deo allegedly shared an AI-generated image of Nabin purportedly showing him holding the national flag upside down during an Independence Day celebration.
Deo was not available for comment.
The BJP alleged that the image was deliberately posted to tarnish the reputation of its national president.
Deo, elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2022, was appointed the party’s deputy leader and chief whip in the Upper House in April.
