Odisha bus meets road mishap in AP, helper killed, five injured

Nabarangpur: The helper of a bus was killed and five passengers were critically injured after the bus they were traveling in hit a stationary truck from the rear before being hit by a speeding truck.

The Bhubaneswar bound bus met with the mishap near Korlam Bhesi Chowk under Barua police limits in Andhra Pradesh, Monday.

The bus titled ‘Tripathy’ was en route from Nabarangpur to Bhubaneswar. There were 35 passengers including the bus staff on board.

According to a source, as the bus driver overtook a truck near Korlam Bhesi Chowk, a bull suddenly came in front of the bus. The driver being unable to control the bus, hit the animal before running into a stationary truck.

As if it was not bad enough, a speeding truck coming from behind hit the bus as well.

While the helper of the bus died on the spot, five passengers suffered critical injuries. Local people immediately carried out rescue operation and sent the injured persons to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, Nabarangpur police have reached the spot to take stock of the situation, it was learnt.
