Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Thursday launched the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, and asserted that his government was committed to ensuring blood security in the state.
Majhi made the statement while attending a blood donation camp organised by the ruling BJP’s youth wing in association with the state government.
“No matter how much science advances, blood cannot be manufactured in a factory,” the chief minister said.
Noting that the month-long campaign is a mass movement dedicated to humanitarian service, Majhi said his government is committed to ensuring that no life is lost prematurely in Odisha due to a shortage of blood.
He said the blood donation camp aims to collect 6,500 units.

“To ensure blood security in Odisha, the ‘Atal Raktadan Abhiyan’ has been launched in the state with a budgetary allocation of Rs 50.54 crore in the 2026-27 Budget. Under this initiative, blood banks are being established in new medical colleges, and existing blood banks are being modernised,” Majhi added.
