Bhubaneswar: A Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) was suspended on the accusation of selling textbooks meant for school students to a scrap dealer in Odisha’s Khurda district.

The CRCC allegedly sold books weighing around three quintals. These were textbooks meant for Class-I to VIII students for the new session of 2023-24, a source said Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Manoranjan Mishra who was the CRCC of Deuli area in Khurda district.

The block vice chairman stated that he got a call from CRCC Mishra. By the time he reached the CRCC’s office, the villagers had detained Mishra.

Some villagers brought this matter to senior authorities of School and Mass Education Department and later the CRCC reportedly apologised for his deed, informed the source.

The block vice chairman reported the incident to the Block Education Officer (BEO) after which the accused confessed his act, the source added.

The district administration has sealed CRCC’s office and put him under suspension.
