Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida Thursday virtually inaugurated 1,889 anganwadi centres (AWCs) across 30 districts.

Parida, who is also in charge of Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti and Tourism Departments, said it is a significant step towards strengthening grassroots childcare infrastructure in the state.

Anganwadi centres play a major role in improving the health and nutrition of pregnant women and children, Parida said.

“The aim is to establish ‘sundar’ (beautiful), ‘sakhyam’ (efficient) and ‘sudrudha’ (strong) anganwadi centres across the state,” she said.

On the occasion, Parida also interacted with district officials of Balasore, Ganjam, Cuttack, Angul and Deogarh and reviewed the progress of anganwadi centre buildings.
